Aana Mayil Ottakam is an anthology film. This is not really very common in Malayalam industry. But this concept is going on since ages and even legendary filmmakers like Satyajit Roy has tried this genre. It is always very interesting to see a collection of great short movies. You cannot get bored watching a movie like this. It is good to see that producers are interested in investing innovative concepts like this. This Is How Love Begins...

Two hilarious short stories set in the milieu of apprentice youth, depicting the amorous travails of teenage boys. In the first story, "The Sorrows of the Devil's Apprentice", we see a talkative storekeeper who is constantly advising his charges on how they should behave, unaware that one of the young men has fallen in love with his daughter. Overcoming shyness is also depicted in the second of the stories, entitled "May I Beg, Helen?"

No one knows the true identity of the real father of the child, until the child real father, also an upper caste Hindu acknowledges paternity. As the story unfolds, the real father becomes agitated by guilt and anguish and then finally questions his previous actions. The film ends with the Masters own resolutions and true acceptance of his own child and self.

Intended as an ode to 35mm, the film was screened one time only on a purpose-built 20x12 meter public cinema screen in the Port of Tallinn, Estonia, on 22 December 2011. A special projector was constructed for the event which allowed the actual filmstrip to be burnt at the same time as the film was shown.
