Overview

Set in 1860s Holland along the famed Zeider Zee — young Hans Brinker finds himself responsible for supporting his family after his father becomes injured in an accident. He and his sister, Gretel, travel to Amsterdam in search of funds to help pay for their father's operation. Their only hope lies in the city's annual ice skating race in which Hans must face off against his arch-rival, Ludwig Schimmel, in hopes of winning the prize money.

Two lovers learn they've known each other over many life times and that this is their last life together. They don't have long to live and must clean up the 'hurts' between them earned over the millennia and multiple personalities they've inhabited together. Travelling through time visions, the see themselves as slaves, as officers of the law, as stranger on a train and heal the rifts between them as they revisit. Unfortunately they learn they are not alone. A third entity reveals he has been following them through many lives as several different people. He is angry that they are now preparing to leave the earth. The entity does not want them to leave it behind and fights against their harmony.

The capable Elder Rogers has become disillusioned and inattentive to his duties ever since a previous missionary companion returned to America and married Elder Roger's girlfriend. The three meet Elder Roger's new companion, Elder Calhoun, in the train station. This new elder is a nerdy but enthusiastic "greenie" that has just arrived from the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Utah. Unfortunately, his training did not give him much fluency in the Dutch language. But as luck would have it, the first person he approaches to proselytize is a fellow American named Kyle.
