Praised at the Théâtre du Rond-Point, dedicated to Molières 2019 by Molière for directing for Mathilda May, and for female revelation with Ariane Mourier, Le Banquet is a singular, strong, surprising and universal show. A wedding where everything goes wrong, a banquet where everything suddenly shatters. Without words but in a universal language, the characters love each other, confront each other, meet again, and get lost in a funny and hectic whirlwind. After the immense success of Open Space and when Mr. X was created with Pierre Richard, Mathilda May continues to make us dream and presents us here with a unique fresco. An exceptional spectacle.

Pierre and Aline, in their fifties, decide to take advantage of their guest house one last time by inviting friends. It's the turn of Max, Pierre's childhood friend, and his wife Charlotte to be invited. The week promises to be beautiful, between the Avignon Festival and good food and drink. 1927. The place is Kalmar and the Grossman family home. A hungover manufacturer Julius Grossman and his wife Solveig are waiting at home for their daughter Betty to arrive by train from the capital. To their great surprise, she arrives in a car with her suitor Greger in tow. What's more, she seems to be full of contemporary trends and modern ideas about marriage, among other things. Her father Julius would rather see her marry his business partner Hilding and thus retain control of the company. Hilding is a dull, somewhat dreary, and slightly overage bachelor who suddenly becomes every woman's dream prince when a rumor begins to circulate that he had a relationship with the famous movie star Rita Ray in his youth.

The third production in a series of Monoteater productions on the theme of "A Man's Life". In its first year, the theatre, which started in 2009, dealt with the early stages of a man's life in the monocomedy "The Husband", in which Jan Uuspõld explored in depth the differences between men and women. In March 2010, Monoteater staged the monocomedy "The Father", which took the audience into the sometimes crazy period of a young man's life, when a big change is about to take place - a baby is about to be born into the family. In April 2012, the audience was introduced to the next important stage in the man's life - a man and a father about to become a grandfather.

Wife, child and mother-in-law in the front row, brother-in-law and sister-in-law as bonus gifts. Add to that a terrible heat wave and a mother left alone in her apartment in Paris... The cocktail is boiling, even explosive... with this heat it will be hard to keep it cool.
