The wife of an American playwright in Paris becomes ensnared in the seductive wiles of an American Army officer, but her devotion to her husband convinces the officer to try to extricate her from the gossip and scandal that have ensued.
Rose Leigh is a young schoolteacher. She sees a paragraph in the paper, saying that in a certain small village they have had in six months, three teachers (men), and all have left because the boys are so unruly and impossible. She resolves to try the experiment of giving them a woman teacher, and applies for the situation. The trustees of the school, who are at their wits' end, gladly accept the offer.

The Pirate Chief and his Flunky are marooned and cast ashore on a cannibal island. The Flunky is caught and made King by the Cannibal Queen and he makes the Pirate work for him. The Pirate connives with the Councillor and the Flunky is captured. But the Pirate is also captured and given his choice of marrying the Queen or death in a boiling pot. The Flunky escapes in a boat. The Pirate chooses getting boiled over marrying the Queen. A stick of dynamite is placed under the pot and blows the Pirate onto the boat with the Flunky.
Waldo and the baby went on an outing to the beach with the nurse, but it mattered little to Waldo, who consumed much learning from his book, wherever he went or wandered. Nurse went off with the auto driver and left the studious one in charge of the baby. That gave Bob and Tilly a chance to make their innings. He did not dream that he was putting her in peril, and when later he received word that the ship upon which she sailed had been lost with all on board, he was frantic with grief and self-reproach. Life in this city became hateful to him, and having no ties that bound him there, he abruptly departed into the country, deciding to wander wherever fate might lead him.
