Through an unexpected inheritance, a couple of male scientists travel to the moon via a rocket of their own design. There, they find a lush garden paradise rather than a barren wasteland. They're captured by (semi-nude) telepathic humanoids and taken before the Great Council, where the Moon Goddess decides they should be allowed to continue their experiments. One falls in love, the other seeks to return home.

Ling turns out to be a misshapen creature who, rejected by his peers, has become the stereotypical mad scientist, here specializing in plastic surgery. He falls in love with Nora but fearing she will betray him he resuscitates a young man who committed suicide, Ariel by transplanting a new brain into him, and order him to fetch Nora so that he can kill her.

From one day to another, without parents and without electricity, food, water and contact to other people, the brothers have to learn to live together in their vital protection bunker, while monsters move past the basement windows and heavy, sharp claws can be heard moving around upstairs on the wooden floors.
