Overview

Violinist Lucia Micarelli performs an eclectic set that features the traditional "Ladies Fancy," Steve Earle-penned "This City," jazz classic "Will O' the Wisp" and standards "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Nature Boy," as well as classical pieces from Maurice Ravel, John Corigliano and Jean Sibelius. Also: a behind-the-scenes look at Micarelli's 2009 near career-ending accident and subsequent recovery. Michael Keaton hosts.

The Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach are considered “the Himalayas of violinists". Yehudi Menuhin first recorded the complete works mid-1930s. The film, focuses on the Sonatas. It is a true dialogue between the recording of Yehudi Menuhin and Claire Bourdet, playing them today. The different movements are played in turn until they are merged into an unexpected polyphony. This is a film about music as an image of time.

His nomadic family are selling their meager belongings to help support their son's education in performance and ethnomusicology at Tchaikovsky's Conservatory in Kyiv, Ukraine, but it is not enough. Amin, desperate to finish his academic education, sells his violins one at a time just to pay for his tuition.
