Bessie, extorted by a former acquaintance in desperation, decides to tell everything to her husband. However, to aid Joe she accuses Wallace (Miljan), with whom Marion is preparing to go away. Finally, Joe and Marion are reconciled, but Bessie learns that the world never forgives a woman who sins even when she has reformed.

Tate Killaly and his daughter, Zelma, cross the river to the trading post of Henri Cocteau, located in a little Alaska town. Quig Lanigan, Cocteau’s tool and a brute attacks Zelma, but a stranger, Bruce McLaren steps in saving her from harm. Later Zelma later finds the stranger suffering from snow blindness, takes him home to her cabin and nurses him back to health over the course of which they fall in love. He admits he is a wrongfully accused fugitive from justice with a price on his head. When Tate and Cocteau become aware of the stranger's presence, they attempt capture, but Zelma helps him escape. Eventually the men are exposed, and Bruce is cleared.

Henry King and Ruth Roland starred in each episode, playing different roles each time, with a variety of supporting players who varied from one episode to another. Each episode told a complete and individual story, but they were all inter-related by a uniform theme. Although there were no cliff-hanger endings, each episode did, in fact, end with a challenge to the audience: Who was responsible for the misfortune of the principal characters? Mrs. Abbott, an elderly newspaper vendor in dire straits, is taken in by Rupert Dodds, an art dealer, and Dick Foster, his young companion, who see in her transparent honesty an excellent shill for illegal activities in their art shop, where they remold gold and silver articles. Mrs. Abbott grows fond of the young man playing matchmaker for him and Trixie, the bookkeeper. Soon she becomes suspicious of Dodds and Dick’s activities and discovers that they are planning to rob the home of Lady Broderick, a wealthy customer. Attempting to prevent the crime she is arrested, tried and convicted but Dick confesses and clears her of the crime but there are more surprises ahead.
