In mid-1971, French television organized a press conference in both Paris and Washington, with 20 journalists participating—10 of them, mostly American, defending the U.S. stance, while the other 10, mostly French, remained neutral. Madam Bình sat alone among these formidable journalists, under bright lights, calmly and confidently responding with strength yet courtesy, clearly expressing her goodwill in seeking a political solution to end the war. Her image at that moment led people to metaphorically compare it to "dancing among wolves."

Aufrecht gehen. Rudi Dutschke - Spuren

Apr 12, 1980

Portrait of the spokesman of the student movement and extra-parliamentary opposition Rudi Dutschke, who died on December 24, 1979 from the late effects of an assassination attempt. The film is not limited to the mere biography of the extra-parliamentary politician, but also depicts the political environment as well as the late effects of the student movement. In retrospect, it condenses into a picture of a highly politicized society that had not yet begun its retreat into the private sphere.

Jacqueline Lundquist's father, Donald C. Lundquist, served in Vietnam in 1967-68. While there, he wrote hundreds of letters and recorded many hours of audio tapes that he sent to his wife and daughter. A mere months after returned from the war, he died. Jacqueline was barely 5 years old. Her mother gave her the letters and audio tapes in her teens, but she didn't read them until the summer of 1997 when she was 7 months pregnant with her son, Sam. She was 34. That set her on a journey of getting to know her dad and retracing his footsteps in Vietnam. She ultimately befriended a North Vietnamese soldier who had fought opposite her father. His family had also kept all the letters he had written back to his wife and daughter. This is their contrasting yet similar story.

Vietnam: American Holocaust

Nov 7, 2008

VIETNAM: AMERICAN HOLOCAUST exposes one of the worst cases of sustained mass slaughter in history, carefully planned and executed by presidents of both parties. Our dedicated generals and foot soldiers, knowingly or unknowingly, killed nearly 5 million people, on an almost unimaginable scale, mostly using incendiary bombs. Vietnam has never left our national consciousness, and now, in this time, it has more relevance than ever. Claiborne documents the Whitehouse fabrication of the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, and further, raises the question of whether JFK was assassinated to promote the Vietnam War. Martin Sheen, who played the leading role in Apocalypse Now almost 30 years ago, has generously lent his powerful voice to this actual history of the War in Vietnam.
