Overview

A celebration of Czech music. This is a concert featuring the biggest names on the domestic pop scene. Dozens of singers paid tribute to Karel Gott, a musical legend loved not only in our country. You will hear many of his beautiful and famous songs, including hits such as "Lady Carneval," "Jdi za štěstím," "Trezor," "Co sudičky přály nám," and "Srdce nehasnou." All performed by Lucie Bílá, Marek Ztracený, Monika Absolonová, Ondřej Brzobohatý, Michal David, Václav Noid Bárta, Charlotta Ella Gottová, Richard Krajčo, Jiří Suchý, Hana Zagorová, and many others. Actress Jiřina Bohdalová will be a special guest, and Libor Bouček will host the evening.

LIVE IN EUROPE 1969 lives up to the Miles Davis Bootleg Series mission of presenting live performances that are previously unreleased, have previously only been bootlegged, or are very rare. This new set is the first collection of Miles's Third Great Quintet, the "Lost" Band of 1968-1970 with Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Dave Holland, and Jack DeJohnette at their peak (they were never recorded in the studio). The album captures the short-lived quintet in three separate concert settings, starting with two full-length (one hour-plus) sets at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France, in Stockholm as part of "The Newport Jazz Festival In Europe," and completed with a stunning 46-minute performance at the Berlin Philharmonie, filmed in color. Promoter Don King wants to make a name for himself and offers both fighters five million dollars apiece to fight one another, and when they accept, King has only to come up with the money. He finds a willing backer in Mobutu Sese Suko, the dictator of Zaire, and the "Rumble in the Jungle" is set, including a musical festival featuring some of America's top black performers, like James Brown and B.B. King.

This concert from the Jazz legend was recorded in 1973 with a very similar line-up to the later releases Dark Magus, Agharta, and Pangaea, featuring Al Foster on drums, Michael Henderson on bass, Mtume on percussion, Dave Liebman on sax, and, most importantly, Reggie Lucas and Pete Cosey on guitar.
