A Czech satirical comedy, filmed according to a script by the State Prize laureate Jiří Marek based on several of his satirical short stories. The film contains three stories, the first of which mocks careerism, the second takes aim at the inadequate attitude of some of our literary critics, and the final story is a satirical picture of how irresponsible construction work is still done in some parts of our country.

Věra Donátová has graduated from law school and wants to open a law firm. However, she is financially dependent on her parents. Her emancipated mother supports her efforts, but her father gives Věra money on the condition that if her practice is not successful within a year, she will marry the son of Consul Raboch. Věra has no clients. The first case is assigned to her ex officio. Věra visits her client Petr Kučera, known as Tygr, in a prison cell and achieves his release against his will. In an attempt to reform him, she offers him a position as a butler in his office. Tygr invites her to a pub to get acquainted with the mentality of the underworld. Věra likes his sovereign behavior. The one-year deadline has passed and Father Donát is throwing a feast. He wants Věra to choose from several invited suitors. Věra ridicules all the suitors, including Consul Raboch's son...
Master armourer Tomás has young wife Alena, of whom he is very jealous. One day the ruler of town sees Alena and decides to win her over for himself. To get a free hand for his love affairs, he sends Master Tomás to acquire more skills in Flanders. Jealous husband does not know how to secure fidelity of his beautiful wife while he is away, and finally accepts aid of the devil, to whom he signs his soul as a reward. Devil in the disguise of Master Ondrej works in Tomás's workshop and protects Alena against various courtiers and the ruler of town. But finally he falls in love with Alena himself and becomes her lover.

Finally, under the pretext of buying a canary, he takes his grandmother to a gamekeeper's lodge, where a lonely gamekeeper lives, longing for company. However, the grandmother sees through the ruse. A man boards on a tram together with a naked boy. Somebody has stolen the boy's clothes when he was out bathing, leaving him with not even change for the tram. The man has taken care of him and is taking him home. At first nobody notices them but as soon as the people realize they are seeing something out of the ordinary they begin to react to the situation. Some are content with the simple explanation as to why the boy is naked. Others are agitated, for they see the whole situation as something unseemly. An ordinary incident, which might have been passed over in silence, results in a heated argument that turns into a fight. More and more people join in the fight until the police are forced to intervene.
